These cuff links are crafted from the authentic Israeli telephone tokens. Set in silver-plated brass with a swivel finding, each cuff link measures 7/8" in diameter. Each pair of cuff links comes gift-boxed.
The earliest known use of a telephone token was in 1885 when users gave an attendant a token in exchange for access to a phone booth in St. Louis. Until the mid 20th century in the US, tokens were deposited directly into public telephones. This practice was also common in Europe, Japan, South America and Israel. The Israeli telephone token, or "asimon," was used until the late 1980s when the phone card was introduced.
