A traditional approach and the traditional materials used in this composition create an "old-world" design. A combination of the lions and the rising sun, popular symbols of Persia during the 1800's, the document is framed with quatrefoils, leaves, and pitchers. The Hebrew is from the song "Od Yeshoma" – "...the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride..."
My designs are interpretations from the great masters of modern art. Drawings and watercolors combine with mixed media and alternative printmaking, forming the modern ketubah. My inspiration is a variety of artists and movements through out art history: masters of mixed media and painting like klimt, diebenkorn, johns, picasso, lichtenstein and carle, to traditional japanese and chinese watercolors and drawings, tonature.
